Do you wish to celebrate this Diwali which more grandeur than last time? You can try making some exclusive hand-made greeting cards. Often the cards that you get at a card shop might just win a glance and they will be castaway in a pile of old books and papers.
If you wish to make something worth remembering then here are some tips that you can use to make your Diwali special than the previous one.
You will need
- Handmade paper – You get wonderful patterns today in Handmade paper. You can get them in variety of colors from Red, Maroon, Yellow and Orange. You can get a few of these. Handmade paper is usually thick as a cardboard and it comes in great colors so half your job is done when you have a good base card.
- Lace – You can visit your local lace shop and pick up a nice thin gold lace. It may come in about Rs.3-4 meter. You can get a few meters depending on your requirement.
- Glitter Tubes – You can get these glitter tubes easily available in the market. You can use them to decorate your card further.
- Accessories – Often you may get extravagant wedding cards with a small plastic stick-on of Ganesha attached to it. You have a few of those you can use it. You can also buy some small Goddess Lakshmi stickers from your local stationery too. You can get a few kundans and chamkis to add glamour to your cards.
- Glitter pens and Black felt-tip pen – You can buy those glitter pens that kids use or stick with your traditional black felt-tip pen to scribble your Diwali message.
- Apart from this you may need some glue and scissors.
Method
- Cut out small rectangles from your handmade paper sheet. The rectangle should be about 24cms long and 17 cms wide. If you wish to have a little smaller card, you can have a 22cm long and 15 cm wide rectangle. After cutting them, fold them into half.
- Take your lace and stick it at the borders of the front side of your card.
- Place your little plastic Ganesha or your Goddess Lakshmi sticker in the centre of the card.
- If you don’t have any of the above accessories. You can draw a small diya and fill it with chamkis and kundans or glitter.
- Now open the card and write in your Diwali message using the glitter pens.
Your card is ready. You can try different variations with your cards if you are creative enough.
